Hi, I’m Adriana Leikind,
The creator of Fairies & Lesson Plans.
There are a few things about me that I’d love you to know:
I am drawn to things that are simple and efficient – like uncluttered spaces, and less clipart!
I like planning well, then allowing things to happen organically.
Like many of you, I struggle to balance all the things I want to do. I wish there were a 25th hour in every day, and an extra day between Sunday and Monday.
The truth is that life is very dynamic, and even if I had balance, it would only last until the next moment. So I give myself more to work some days, more to family other days, and try to be in the moment.
Being a Teacher
Another thing about me is that have been a teacher all my life in one way or another. I’m an educator at core. My last 20 years in the classroom have been a source of happiness AND pain, but nevertheless, a source of growth.
As I became more comfortable in my “teacher skin”, I tried to be more of a facilitator who encourages and guides, rather than the person who teaches all the time.
I’ve been in a classroom with kindergartners, first, and third graders. I know I light up when I am teaching. That will never change!
Staying True to what Matters
At some point in my career, the stress of keeping up with those “urgent things” that are “not important” have consumed a huge part of my desire to be at school. It seemed like my job was getting in the way of the work I’m supposed to be doing, if you know what I mean.
So, I decided to leave the public school system, and continue my calling from home.
Now, I have the pleasure of waking up everyday, knowing that I help teachers implement their lesson plans without getting held back by lack of solid resources.
My goal is to help you implement a demanding curriculum without spending your every waking moment at work. There’s no need to do it alone.
Staying Updated
To continue providing you with excellent resources, I volunteer and substitute teach on a regular basis. Being in the classroom keeps me up with current practices, but most importantly, it keeps me in touch with what’s most precious to me: the kids.
